Supplying an unrivalled range of machine tools is the most important division within RK, and the service and support team work closely with customers throughout the UK on machine repairs and service contracts. None of this is possible, without a strong team of service engineers working behind the scenes. Offering support to customers is a critical role in our daily operations and business activities
At RK, we are looking for leading service engineers who can adapt to a wide range of machine tool products.
Our Service Engineers are the front line in our support & service operation, and their knowledge and problem-resolving skills are vital in machine tool repair and maintenance. They are also a key part of the machine acceptance process, and you will often be involved with customer acceptance trials, both at the factory and once installed the customer.

Key responsibilities
- Visit customers throughout the UK and Ireland with occasional overnight hotel stays.
- Be an integral, customer-facing contact when involved with machine acceptance trials.
- Maintain and repair one of the widest ranges of machine tools in the UK.
- Fault find, diagnose, and repair machine tools.
- Assess and provide reports on customers’ machinery as part of their service contract.
- Support in reviewing jobs that are planned for the coming days and weeks and help ensure the parts inventory and planned jobs are carried out effectively and efficiently.
- Liaise daily with internal teams within the business and local Senior Management.
What you’ll bring
- Experience as a Service Engineer in the machine tool industry with at least 2 years of knowledge on supporting machinery or,
- An experienced CNC machine tool operator who has been involved with the routine maintenance and repair of machinery.
- Proven ability to lead by example and be innovative with processes and efficiencies.
- Analytical ability to understand and impact key performance indicators.
- Problem-solving initiative to fix problems when they arise, but also understand why and how they happened.
- A calm considered approach with exceptional communication skills and the ability to adapt your style dependent on whom you’re interacting with at the customer.
- Have an interest in developing yourself as a service and support engineer and continuously grow by actively learning, self-assessing and asking for feedback.
- Possess the ability to build trust with your team and your colleagues.
- The ability to adopt and adapt quickly to new technology and systems.
- Good knowledge of MS Office.
- Able to communicate, read, and write effectively in the English language.
- Must have and continue to maintain a valid driving license and safe driving record for 2 years and over.
- Due to the sensitive nature of several of our key customers, a UK passport will be required to gain access to customer sites.
